About Us

Since 2001 our family has been taking day trips and vacations to various parts of the green mountain state. The tranquility, beautiful vistas and outdoor recreation has always appealed to us. We love to hike Mt. Ascutney, ski the slopes, canoe or go fishing in the Black River. We ultimately knew our love would turn into commitment; and we purchased our first beautiful waterfront vacation home in Ludlow, VT.  While the home was lovingly cared for, its 100+ year age was showing some wear & tear. We gutted the interior of the property, salvaged and restored what we could. With great attention to detail, we maximized the beautiful views of the Black River, and just beyond, the peaceful Lake Rescue. We created a space that would appeal to families, one of comfort, rest and recharging.  We named this home “lumitalo” which means “snow house,” and is Finnish in origin.  My husband, who did much of the work, is Finnish, and during the winter months, the home does resemble a snow house. The name is very apropos.
